9 Simple Self-Care Ideas for Stressed Moms
What are some self-care activities for moms?
When you are a mom and a working mom on top of that, the chances are that you hardly find time for yourself. Well, you are not to be blamed as you are caught up between so many responsibilities, your home, your family, your work, and more.
As a result, there is hardly any time and energy left for you to focus on yourself and your needs.
However, as you continue with the daily grind, you are sure to see the impacts soon on your body and mind. You are bound to get stressed, feel fatigued, and remain in an irritating mood all the time.
Is that good for you and your family? Not all at all, and this is why it is of utmost importance to take a pause and spend some time with yourself.
If your priority is your family and work, you need to feel and look great both from the inside and outside. After all, it is not an easy task to juggle between a family and a career and lead a balanced life.
Here are some self-care tips that require intentional efforts, and as a busy mom, you must follow them, even if it means coming out of your comfort zone.
1. Regular exercise
It is a must to exercise regularly so as to maintain higher levels of fitness and immunity. It can be challenging for busy moms to make time for exercise but taking out 15 – 20 minutes daily need not be that tough.
If your office is nearby, walk to your office and climb the stairs instead of taking the lift. Even a few minutes of crunches, cycling, squat jumps, and jumping jacks can keep you fit and energized.
2. Stretching and meditation
Just put on your stretch pants and do some stretch exercises at home or join a Christian meditation class.
Nothing can be more relaxing for your mind and body than those stretching and beneficial poses. Meditation and prayer is a very good technique to keep your mind relaxed.
Just find some time to fit stretching and meditation into your daily regimen, and you are sure to see some positive changes.
3. A complete body massage
No one can deny the benefits of massage, and a full body and hair massage is known to reduce stress and anxiety.
You can schedule a massage service at a salon and ask for a customized massage with essential oil.
Away from your work and home, with your cellphone shot off, you are sure to feel completely relaxed in that tranquil atmosphere with a relaxing environment.
Some of the new massage techniques are sure to balance, soothe, and relax your body.
4. A facial, manicure, or pedicure
When was the last time you visited a salon?
If it has been weeks or months, make an appointment today for a facial, manicure, and pedicure. A good manicure or pedicure treatment and facial means exfoliating, moisturizing, and renewing the skin.
A relaxing massage for your hands and feet and face is bound to improve blood circulation. You can see some instant results once you pamper yourself a bit.
You come out looking relaxed and refreshed.
5. A new haircut
If you have had little or no time to do something about your hair, it is time you sat up and had a good look at your hair.
Even if you feel that your hairstyle looks good and has served you well for many years, it is time to experiment and try out something new. Changing your hairstyle will not only boost your confidence but also earn you some well-deserved comments.
Let your new hairstyle reflect your personality and the change in your life. You can change the styling or opt for trendy hair color, and you’ll begin to feel like a new person.
6. Spend time with friends
Even a few minutes of good company and laughter can work as medicine and reenergize your tired life.
Call a close friend you haven’t seen for quite some time and catch up over a cup of coffee. A face-to-face time with your best friends and making real conversations is not only fun and enjoyable but therapeutic as well.
Do not rely completely on social media to make connections.
7. Unplug and declutter
Your life and mind keep on taking all the clutter at all times. Unless and until you get away from it all and declutter your life, the chances are that you will explode one day because of those bottled-up emotions.
So, once a week, just disconnect with everything in your life, your family, your devices, and your work. Take deep breaths and declutter your mind with all those negative emotions and stress in your daily life.
Getting rid of junk and streamlining can help reduce stress drastically.
8. Donate and help
Well, you might need a bit of help yourself, but there are people who may need more help than you.
So, go ahead and work for a charity or your elderly who needs help with their groceries, or you could mow your neighbor’s lawn.
Make a connection with someone you don’t know and open up a new world of possibilities that you never knew existed.
Get out of your comfort zone and help others. Even a little generosity goes a long way and keeps you positive and elated.

Keep in mind that your health and wellbeing are important not just for yourself but for your family.

I’ve learned so much more how important taking time for myself was over the past year when we were stuck at home due to COVID-19. I make it a priority to exercise by waking up early and meeting a friend for run and coffee. We do this 2-3 times a week and it is just what we need! I’ve started incorporating yoga and also 10-15 minute strength work to my days. It has made a huge difference in my overall mood.
